Symrise says its pet food division is growing again after a weak first half

German ingredients group Symrise reported low single-digit organic growth in its Pet Food division for the third quarter of 2026, after declines earlier in the year.

Symrise, the German flavors and ingredients group, says its Pet Food division returned to growth in the third quarter of 2026. The company published its nine-month figures on October 28, 2026.

What Symrise reported

Pet Food posted low single-digit organic sales growth in the quarter, which Symrise put down to higher volumes in both Palatability (the flavor and coating ingredients that make dry and wet food appealing to pets) and Pet Nutrition. Prices in Pet Nutrition are still normalizing. The division had reported a slight organic decline in the second quarter, so this is a turnaround rather than a strong year.

The group as a whole grew organic sales by 5.3% in the quarter, with sales of EUR 1,310 million, and 3.0% over the first nine months (EUR 3,850 million). Pet Food sits in the Taste, Nutrition & Health segment, which grew 5.2% organically in the quarter to EUR 790 million. Symrise kept its full-year outlook of 2% to 4% organic growth, and expects the fourth quarter to be slower than the third because last year’s comparison is tougher.

Why it matters to the trade

Symrise does not sell pet food itself. Through its Pet Food division it supplies ingredients to the brands and contract manufacturers that do, so its volumes are a reasonable read on how much food those makers are producing. Brands looking for a manufacturing partner can compare companies in our pet food manufacturers category.
