Intersand

You can approach Intersand to distribute its cat litter brands in your market or to have clumping litter made under your own brand. The company says it supports private label customers with formula development, custom packaging and logistics, drawing on four production sites and multiple distribution centers. Intersand is a Canadian manufacturer of clumping cat litter based in Boucherville, Quebec, and is listed in our cat litter and hygiene category and our Canada hub. It describes itself as a family business since 1992, when Stéphane Chevigny launched the litter division of the family firm Provalcid in Varennes. Its litters use sodium bentonite clay, and it says it exports to over 60 countries and works with over 200 clients. It states that it does not sell directly to consumers.

Products and brands

Intersand offers four national brands to distributors in Canada and internationally:

• OdourLock, which it calls its most advanced litter, made from 100% pure natural clay. Lines include OdourLock maxCare, unscented, calming breeze, baby powder and lavender field.
• Odour Buster, described as accessible luxury, with extra-hard clumping, in multi-cat and original versions.
• Simple, its most economical option, a fragrance-free clumping litter sold in 10 kg and 14 kg sizes.
• Classic, which it says offers value for money at pet stores, in Carbon Shield, unscented, baby powder, lavender and pine forest versions.

Private label manufacturing

Intersand says you can customize the litter formula to suit your quality and price, with options including clay-based, corn-based, scented or unscented and baking soda-enhanced formulas. Packaging formats it lists are small and large bags, boxes, jugs and pails. The company says private label customers get access to its in-house laboratory and its patents in odor control, clumping and dust removal. Its private label page explains the process. Certifications and memberships

Intersand says it became a certified B Corp in 2026 and has been an accredited member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition since 2024. It also states that it was recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2018, and that OdourLock won the Editors’ Stand Out Product award in Pet Product News magazine’s Editors’ Choice Awards 2014.
