The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC), the Boulder, Colorado membership body for sustainability in the pet industry, has appointed Heather Pfahl as its chief executive officer and executive director. PSC announced the appointment on 26 October 2026, and she starts on 2 November 2026.

Who she is

According to PSC, Pfahl has spent the last ten years leading sustainability teams in procurement and sourcing at Mars, Starbucks and Microsoft. At Mars she worked on sustainable sourcing under the company’s Sustainable in a Generation goals, including support for Mars Petcare’s SHEBA brand and its reef restoration programme. She has also worked for large international non-profit organisations.

Dustin Dover, PSC board chair and chief operating officer of pet food ingredient producer MFiber, said the board expected her to deepen member value and strengthen PSC’s role as a convener for sustainability across the industry.

What PSC does

Founded in 2013, PSC works with brands, retailers, manufacturers and suppliers on benchmarking, accreditation and education, and keeps a packaging supplier directory for members. Pfahl joins shortly before Impact Unleashed, the coalition’s annual conference in Boulder on 9–11 November 2026. Our Pet Sustainability Coalition profile has its contact details, and pet businesses looking for recyclable packaging can see our pet packaging suppliers.
