ASSALCO (Associazione Nazionale tra le Imprese per l’Alimentazione e la Cura degli Animali da Compagnia) is the Italian trade association for companies that make and sell pet food and pet care products. It was founded in 2006, and its members, from small and medium Italian firms to multinational groups, account for about 85% of the Italian pet food market, according to the association.
It works on pet food and pet care legislation and self-regulation, publishes sector documents, sends circulars and a weekly press review to member companies, and follows European pet policy through FEDIAF.
